Catching Firefliesby ~Strange-1

Traditional Art / Printing / Collagraph

Intaglio print made for my Printmaking I class. There are 10 in the edition and some artist's proofs. The prints are 5"x7" printed on Rives BFK.

(I don't know if the category is right for this, but there wasn't an option for just "intaglio," "electric engraving," or "aquatint.") I used a copper matrix, used aquatint in the background for the shades. I put it in two acid baths. One for the sky, and a second for the ground. I used an electric engraver for the outline of the jar.

I then inked and printed them myself with an intaglio press.

This is really cool! I read the description... was the process enjoyable or was it tedious? Either way, it paid off - nice art!

It was a little bit tedious, but enjoyable, too. I like getting to learn how to do new things even if they frustrate me sometimes. haha. The worst part about this was not really knowing what it would look like when I printed it until the very end.
